Day 2 and a visit from Stephanie!

Well I made it to day 2!

Last night was a bit rough, I was in a lot of pain and I could not get comfy if my life depended on it. I was up every hour on the hour. I would pace the house, go to the bathroom and then go back to sleep for an hour. I think the longest time I slept was from  5am to 7 am.

Today I am feeling much better. I have nicknamed myself the burping bandit... as that is all that i do. walk and burp and walk and burp.

Stephanie came over to say hello, It was really nice of her. We had a nice talk and went for a walk around the neighborhood. Man did that feel good. She also brought me a goodie bag! The best present thus far was the creamy chicken soup. It was sooooo yummy and made me feel like I actually ate real food. We also took some cute pics. I will post them tomorrow when I am feeling better.

I am still on pain meds every 5 hours or so. My port site incision is a tad red and swollen and my left shoulder blade kinda hurts. I am not sure if its gas pain or pain from being stuck sleeping in the same position since its the only way I can get comfortable. Hopefully it is nothing serious.

Other than that I am good. I was able to drink 3 protein shakes today and some soup and a bunch of water.

More tomorrow...

  3. It was so great to see you today! I really enjoyed our walk and talk, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if the shoulder pain is gas related with all the burping you were doing. :-) Glad you liked the soup. Definitely stick to the protein/veggie based soups rather than anything with noodles for the first couple of months. I'll send you the cauliflower soup recipe when I find it.

  4. You sound like you are doing great! I am pretty sure the shoulder pain is gas, so many people have it after surgery. They have to inflate the abdomen with air so they can see to work in there. This takes time to disapate, keep sipping and doing your protein. You are doing fantastic!
