Time...

Tonight I have realized how much things can change in a year...

One year ago, I was celebrating the birthday of my now ex boyfriend... life was great... I was in a happy committed relationship, I had lost 90 lbs, I had an awesome job... Life was simple yet grand.

In July of last year... My boyfriend and I broke up... it was a jerry springer ending... but it taught me a lot about myself, infact I found myself... when I didnt know I was lost.

I got an even better job, started school on my 3rd degree.. LOL I feel like I will be in school forever.
Kinda upset I Gained back 50 lbs.. but I digress...

One year from now... I will be done with school, I will be a CPA, and I will be 8 months into my band journey!

Change... as much as I like to fight it  sometimes... I realized it is a good thing... as long as you are moving in the right direction!

BYOC-Better late than never LOL!

It's FRIDAY so that means it's BYOC - Bring Your Own Crazy! We answer a couple of questions in an effort to get to know each other better and to give our blogging brains a break! Copy and paste and answer in your own blogs if you'd like!! ENJOY!!

1. What’s your favorite room in your house?

My favorite room in my house is actually my bedroom… I live with my roommate and her 5 year old soon. I have the master bedroom, so my room is huge; it’s like my own personal palace. I can study, watch movies, listen to music, and meditate… do whatever I want whenever I want.

I

2. Picture question (or describe if you don't have a camera). Show us a pic of your current favorite earrings!
These are my favorite earrings in the picture. I wear them all the time…

Man looking at this picture brings back memories… I was about 30-40 lbs lighter in this picture and I was at Crue Fest… Man I love concerts!

3. What’s your dress code at work? If you stay at home and went back to work outside the home, what dress code would you prefer?

Our dress code at work is business casual. However when we meet clients, we have to be dressier and wear a suit or something like that. I wish we were allowed to wear jeans on the days that we are in the office and are not meeting with clients.

4. Summarize your week in real life and in blog land.

Real life was brutal this week… I called in sick on Tuesday to study for a huge test, luckily I got an A!! Woo hoo go me. Wed I had to leave work early for my consultation for the Lap Band, which was the high point. However, when I got back to work on Thursday, it was crazy… I shouldn’t have missed so much work during deadlines. Work was very overwhelming and everyone was in a bad mood, so we are all at each other’s throats. I cannot wait until deadlines are over and life can go back to normal. Also have another test next week, so my weekend is shot.
Blog life has been great, everyone is so supportive and I have been reading a lot about everyone’s journey with their band. I cannot wait until it is time for my journey!

Consultation Day!

Just got home from my consultation with my doctor for the lap band, I absolutely loved him! I definitely feel comfortable using him for the surgery.
I like the fact that he gives you his cell phone number as well as his nurse’s cell phone number to call if there is any problems post surgery since the procedure is outpatient.
He also told me I was the only patient that actually asked for a specific band before… luckily he offers both and I will get the Allegran lap band that I want.
There are however two things that concerned me…
I asked him what he thought my ideal goal weight should be, he said that was up to me and my body… but told me that the average lap band patients only lose 60 percent of their excess body weight. So that would put me around 190-200 lbs. Has anyone heard this before? Everyone that I know that has had this procedure done has lost 80-100 percent of their excess body weight.
Also while in the waiting room, I met a girl that had the procedure done in January and she has only lost 17lbs and goes in every month for fills… HELLO! Something is definitely wrong there.
So hopefully if all goes right in the savings department I should have the Lap Band done  around the 15th of October!!
Now it’s time to start changing my habits. First thing I have to change is my lovely smoking addiction! This is going to be hard… but well worth it!

Boredom...

So I have come to the realization that I hate being alone…

My roommate is on vacation until next week, and at first I was looking forward to the time alone… its been a while since I have had any alone time…

The thrill of it lasted all of 5 minutes… I had no idea what to do with myself the entire weekend. Saturday and Sunday night I hung out with old friends that I haven’t seen in a while. Yesterday however was the worst.

It was Monday; everyone was exhausted and didn’t want to do anything… For once I had no homework to do… It was really weird. I started thinking about the past… and I haven’t really felt this lonely since my ex boyfriend of 5 years broke up last year.

What do you do when you are bored and lonely?

I should have done something more productive then watch TV and think about the past.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Thanks for the info!!!

Is anyone else having a problem posting a comment?? It is really pissing me off. Been trying for like 10 mins.

My moms lap band journey... was a little different then most so she isnt the best person for advice. She didnt exercise at all... eats poorly.... and has only had 2 fills in 4 years... the second fill was actually too much for her and she had to have an unfill. When we went to the info session the doctor was shocked.

How often do you guys get fills? and how do you know when to get them?

Lap Band Here I Come...

I have struggled with my weight my entire life… I feel like I have lost the same 50-100 lbs at least 10 times. I have tried everything from weight watchers to a low calorie Doctor supervised diet… and nothing has worked for me for the Long term. My highest weight was a few years ago at 275 and in December 2009 I reached an all time low of 190. Unfortunately I am now around 260.
4 years ago my mother got the Lap Band done… she has lost 123 lbs and has kept it off. She told me a long time ago, that if she was successful at it, she wanted me to get it done. I never thought the day would come where it would be my turn… About two years ago, we tried to get financed for it, but unfortunately we were declined… So I forgot about it, and figured the only way it would happen is if I lose the weight myself.

On Easter Sunday, my mom told me that she promised that  I would have it done by my 31st birthday… and that she has been saving for it… I had no idea she had been doing this.

I went to an informational session last week… and I am very excited. I decided to switch doctors though, as I was not comfortable with my moms surgeon.  The doctor I decided to go with is actually the doctor that taught my mom’s doctor how to do the procedure.

My consultation is June 22nd and I am planning to have the surgery the first or second week of October. Wish I could have it done sooner… but with my crazy work schedule, that is the only time I can have it done.

My doctor wants me to do the outpatient surgery… since I am young and relatively healthy… but I am not exactly sure how I feel about that.

Any thoughts, suggestions or advice… on your journey?
