Tuesday Ramblings...

44 days and counting until my surgery… I can not believe it’s just over a month out! I am very excited.

The hard part is about to begin… Its time to quit smoking… The one thing I have tried a billion times to do and have failed every single time. I am hoping this time will be different. I have gotten as far as a month with out cigarettes but the minute I have a drink its back to smoking, looks like I am going to have to take a break from some alcohol as well. I am also going to start my pre op diet. Luckily my surgeon doesn’t require any liquid diet prior to surgery, but still it sounds like a bit of a hurdle to overcome. I hate to admit that since I have decided to get the lap band, I have been eating like complete and total shit. Maybe that is why I find myself sick as hell for the second time in a month. Or maybe it is because I have been burning the candle at both ends. Work has been crazier than ever, and school is getting harder. I find myself staying up late on most nights and getting up early. My weekends consist of catching up on my sleep, chores and homework and then starting the crazy process all over again.

My stress test is scheduled for 9/20 but it is completely stressing me out. Has anyone had one of these before? I know it takes two hours and I have to be on a treadmill but do they make you run? I have two really bad knees and the treadmill completely aggravates them, so I am not looking forward to it at all. Also the hospital tells me I have to pay my co pay at the time of the test. However I have a weird HSA insurance, and I don’t have a co pay… but no one will tell me what I have to pay the day of the test. I am hoping its not more than $500 or I might not be getting the test done then.

I have no motivation to work today… yet I have so much to do… I  just want to crawl up in the fetal position and go to sleep and wake up when I am able to breathe again, and the coughing subsides.

Oh well… guess its time to get back to work!

  1. Don't stress about the stress test (how ironic). It's really no big deal. They just put you on the treadmill and increase speed and incline until your heart rate is above a certain rate. I never had to run - just a fast walk. It took maybe 5 minutes for the treadmill part - the lengthiest part of the whole thing is hooking you up to all the wires.

  2. I've never had a stress test, I only had to get an EKG before my surgery. Try not to worry about it.

I know you have a lot going on right now with work and your pre-surgery stuff and quitting smoking but I have a small tid-bit of advice for you...start practicing the bandster rules now so that it's not such a drastic change when the time comes. I did this and it really helped me a lot.

  3. This might be a stupid question... but what are the bandster rules? My surgeon hasnt really covered anything like that with me yet.

  4. Jessica you don't have an email address on your blog, but we are neighbors! I work in Boca. Email me at bandlady (at) stealyourface (dot) com and I'll give you specifics if you'd like to meet up!
